Tonight saw the very first event in the Northern Emirates Powerplay Series to be held at Al Hamra Golf Club. With 5 qualifying events at 3 Golf Clubs there is plenty of opportunity for competitors to attempt to qualify for the grand final to be held on 14th April at Tower Links Golf Club. For many competitors this was the first time they had played the Powerplay format and they were all keen to get of to the very best start and pick up the first order of merit trophy. This seemed to be a format that suited Dan Blomstrand who held his nerve around the floodlit 9 to pick up first prize with a great score of 25 points. This was enough to beat second place Rita Engelbrecht by 5 points as she finished with 20. Third place came down to a card play-off as both Jae Koh and Blair Smith had 16 points but with a better back 6 score it was Blair who eventually picked up the prize. The Nearest the Pin prize on the 4th Hole went to Byron Kraemer. The next Powerplay event to be held at Al Hamra will be Tuesday 13th December.
