The first Open Stableford of the New Year got underway on the last Friday of the month and saw one of the largest fields of both members and UAE golfers battling it out over Al Hamra’s Championship Course. Under perfect golfing conditions it turned out it was going to be a successful day for the Al Hamra members as they scooped the top 3 prizes on the day. The January winner and shooting a solid 38 points was Andy Spavin who managed to just pip second place Julia Stanbrook by one as she finished with 37 points. In third place, 3 points back from the winner was Rita Engelbrecht who carded a score of 35 points. The two nearest the pin prizes were won by Peter Shilling on Hole No. 7 and Eric Engelbrecht on Hole No. 7. The next Open stableford will take place on Friday 24th February.
