Al Hamra Golf Club celebrated its fifth birthday in style this weekend as members and guests teed it up in a four person texas scramble. In only 5 years Al Hamra has become one of the top golf courses in the UAE and it continues to get better and better year by year. Today we were lucky enough to have 8 of the original founding members take part in the event who all joined back in 2007 and it seemed to be written that two of the longest serving members, Phil and Karen Mallinson, would take the events top prize. They were accompanied by father and son duo Dewald and Chris Lubbe posting a great score of 60.6, enough to take the events top prize. It also seemed fitting that Phil and Karen cut the birthday cake as members and staff reminisced over the years gone by at Al Hamra. Second place finishers Victor Hails, Jim Chapman, Paul Tipping and Sekhar Thodla couldn’t quite do enough as they finished just 0.7 behind the winners still posting a very respectable team score of 61.3. The Nearest the pin prizes were picked up by Pierre Lefebvre on the 4th, Jim Chapman on the 7th and Dewald Lubbe on the 15th.
Phil & Karen Mallinson, Dewald & Chris Lubbe – 60.6
Paul Tipping, Jim Chapman, Victor Hails, Sekhar Thodla – 61.3
