Burrow’s Magical Mens Open Performance Results In RAK Tour Challenge Place
PublishDate : 11/22/2017 3:09:53 AM

Max Burrow produced a magical performance in the 12th RAK Mens Amateur Open to secure a spot in the 2017 RAK Tour Challenge European Challenge Tour event.
The key EGF event saw the 12th instalment from Al Hamra in which the finest talent from around the UAE competed in a 2 day 36 hole stroke play event. There was also the added massive incentive of the winner qualifying for a spot in the RAK Tour Challenge 2017 event, the penultimate event on the European Challenge Tour sponsored by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism & Development Authority. With competitors teeing it up the final two days before the course closed for the prestigious Challenge Tour event, the course was in immaculate condition with beautiful lush fairways and speedy smooth rolling greens.
Day 1 saw Max get off to a fast start after firing in a 69 after nines of 34 and 35. This saw him take a two shot lead into day 2 from Rob Bain who carded 71, closely followed by the trio of Simon Dunn, Steve Kelbrick, and Joshua Hill who all carded level par rounds of 72, with a further 5 players within firing distance of the leader.
Max followed up on Day 2 with a 1 under 71 for a 140 total and eventual 4 shot winning margin. His consistent golf throughout day 2 paid off as his fellow competitors seemingly fell by the wayside. Simon Dunn posted another level par round of 72 to take the runners-up position on 144, closely followed by Steve Kelbrick, whose second round 75 left him on 147.
The net division saw an outstanding performance from Al Hamra member Jae Woong Lee who posted rounds of 70 and 67 for his 6 shot winning total of 137. Bradley Mogire finished in the runners-up position after his one under total of 143 whilst Richard Cuddihy picked up the last of the net prizes on an even par total of 144.
Max would go on to compete in the Challenge Tour event recording scores of 73 and 78. He unfortunately missed the cut but certainly held his own in what was a dream come true for any amateur golfer.
